Brian McGrath
Pakenham
Brian McGrath lives and breathes racing. He intended to follow his famous father, Jim, into the world of broadcasting and journalism, working on the racing desk at The Sun newspaper in London. However, the pull of the horse was too strong. He needed to be working with them everyday.
Brian started at John Hammond’s stables in France, followed by stints with the late Michael Jarvis and Roger Varian at Newmarket, before completing the Irish National Stud Course. He then won a place on the prestigious Darley Flying Start Program.
He then headed to Australia and worked for Robert Smerdon and Chris Waller before branching out on his own in 2015. Brian is now firmly entrenched in the Victorian training ranks and newly established at the state-of-the-art Pakenham Racecourse. The facilities and tracks on offer provide excellent options to get the best out of your horse.
